For our August project, the Uterine Union decided to go down on the farm! This month, the ladies headed to East Point to Dog Head Farms to help out the folks at Concrete Jungle. The UU put in some major elbow grease yanking weeds, harvesting cucumbers, green peppers, tomatoes, and egg plants, and…

Girls Rock! Atlanta — The inaugural outing for the Uterine Union took place on July 13, 2013 at the Variety Playhouse. The whole union came out to support member Haley’s week-long involvement with the Camp, whose mission is:
EMPOWERING GIRLS AND WOMEN OF ALL BACKGROUNDS AND ABILITIES THROUGH MUSIC EDUCATION, CREATIVE EXPRESSION, AND PERFORMANCE. WE PROVIDE LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES, BUILD SELF-ESTEEM, AND CREATE A CULTURE OF COLLABORATION BETWEEN MENTORS, PEERS, AND THE BROADER COMMUNITY.
The showcase is a chance for all of the camper bands to perform the song they wrote and rehearsed all week in front of legions of adoring fans, friends, family, and community members. There’s also a silent auction where folks can bid on items donated by local business, musicians, and artists, with all proceeds going directly back to the camp. Amy bid on (and won!) the Time Lord’s band photo and one-of-a-kind screenprinted t-shirt. And Callan won a free tattoo with the purchase of just one raffle ticket!
